The passing of a good man - Jason MacIntyre

Time trial cycling champion Jason MacIntyre was killed on Tuesday after being knocked off his bike by a van while training in Scotland. Story continues...

And then a Government minister suggests that vigilante action against cyclists is acceptable. (LondonCycleSport)

What is going on? How many more cyclists are going to be killed before something is done?

So many drivers feel they're the only ones entitled to the road. It's just as bad here in the US in North Carolina even on quiet back roads. We always have to be on the defensive! Like your blog. I'll be checking back.

Hi @donald, I agree with you. In the UK we seem to have the same type of driver-mentality. Driver awareness *generally* in London, however, seems a little better than the rural parts. I commute between London and the countryside (30 miles) and find the driving is vastly different. One positive outcome - bike commuting has made me a better driver ;-)

I'm glad you enjoy my blog. Look forward to more friendly exchanges.

The fact that he leaves behind a wife and two young daughters - one of whom needed full-time care due to a serious medical condition - makes it even more tragic.

Jason was his daughter Megan’s full-time carer. His family will now need to find money to pay for a carer for Megan.

You can help to support his family by donating to the Jason MacIntyre Memorial Fund here: http://www.braveheartcyclingfund.com/home.asp
